OPENING NIGHT
With her roots in a small country town in Western Australia, young local artist Clare Martella has always had a high appreciation for anything handcrafted. As a child she spent a lot of time outdoors which provided endless inspiration for her creativity to flow. This is where Clare’s love for art and design began.
Clare’s biggest inspiration is nature and she finds herself drawing on things like the details of a leaf, the movement of waves or the glow of the stars and moon. Whether it’s in her traditional or digital work, she often incorporates shapes and textures that she found when exploring the outdoors as a young girl.
Clare creates all her textures and illustrations herself rather than using stock images. Her nature photography is integral to her digital work and she creates mandalas and designs that are inspired by the shapes of flowers and leaves. By having the freedom of using multiple mediums Clare is able to bring her traditional art influences into her digital work and vice versa.
Recently, Clare has been learning new skills such as up-cycling old musical instruments and creating artworks with pressed flowers.
As a graphic designer Clare loves introducing her work to businesses to help them with branding, logos, websites and social media and having been commissioned earlier this year by the team at The Sound Temple to assist with rebranding, she is excited to launch her very first exhibition called “My Artistic Nature” in the newly opened Mandala Room at The Sound Temple on 14th April 2018.
Join Clare and her musical friends on the Opening Night at 7pm where we will have refreshments, organic canapes, tea and coffee.
Some of Clare’s work will be available to purchase on the night and for the duration of the exhibition which will run through to the end of May.
