Interactive School Holiday Event for Children

Have you heard of Where Do Eagles Dare? Come along Nest, Build and Share!
Looking for an exciting hands-on activity to do with your children in the bush during the school holidays?

Join Simon Cherriman as he shares his incredible knowledge about the majestic Wedge-tailed Eagle. Spend the morning in the Life of an Eagle as you collect and forage to find suitable materials to build – twig by twig – the exact replica of an eagle’s nest.

Simon’s passion for this powerful bird of prey is an absolute joy to behold and he is offering this unique opportunity for your children to collaborate and work out how to build a nest using the same skills required by the great Wedge-tailed Eagle’s talons and beak.

Your children will have so many questions and Simon will have all the answers….

Do you know what eagles make their nests with?
How many eggs does an eagle lay each year?
What is the size of an eagle’s nest?
What season are the eaglets hatched?
What’s is the wingspan of a wedge-tailed eagle?

Simon CherrimanSimon Cherriman grew up in the hills area of Perth, Western Australia. When he was a child, the bushland surrounding his home drew him out each weekend to explore, watch, climb and listen to the natural world. Simon inspires children to look at nature in a brand-new way.

He spent his life collecting birds’ nests and swimming in creeks, watching kangaroos graze and skinks scurry under rock crevices. He learnt first-hand how nature works which shaped who he is today and he wants to share his knowledge and passion with the world.

In 2017 The Sound Temple assisted with some crowd funding events to support his PhD. This year we are over the moon to have him back in various capacities to engage with all demographics of our community including this workshop for children.
