HANDS ON WORKSHOP
This workshop is for people who would like to learn how to make re-usable fabric menstrual pads as an alternative to the menstrual cup.
This workshop hopes to de-stigmatise conversation about sanitary products, and aims to provide a safe environment to discuss alternatives. Do you know how many tonnes of sanitary waste go to landfill every year?
Participants will come away with one re-usable cotton sanitary pad, and a template and instructions for making more. Bring your daughter, bring your mum! Together we can make a difference one period at a time. This event includes nourishing soup and endless cups of organic herbal teas.
Morgan Kay is a multi-disciplined artist who grew up in the Perth Hills. She has been working with textiles for many years, and creates quirky, one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art, costumes, and fancy clothing. Sustainable fashion is a passion of hers, and this is reflected in her fascination and enthusiasm for recycling, up-cycling, and re-purposing fabric.
Morgan will be running workshops over the course of the month aimed at informing the community about the ecological impact of fast fashion products and what we can all do to effect change within the global fashion industry.
Common Threads – Woven through Community is a month long community engagement project proudly brought to the Perth Hills following on from the world Fashion Revolution week in late April.
This exhibition includes topics of integrating sustainability, creativity, and traditional hand-crafted wisdom of the ages. These events are designed for you to leave feeling deeply inspired to become part of a brand new impulse of considerable change.

What to Bring: All materials provided but we invite you to bring basic sewing equipment if you have it.
