Common Threads – Woven through Community

HANDS ON WORKSHOP

Hand stitching offers transformative and artistic expression in a busy and often frantic world.

Join us as we work with needle and thread in a mode of personal enquiry. We will work with themes that focus on the nature of the human being, personal insight into self and the qualities that make each of us individual beings in the world.

We’ll explore and gain deeper insight into the nature of ourselves through the gentle art of hand stitching.

Anne Williams uses simple materials and her hands to create new forms. She has a lifelong love of making, using basic ‘domestic’ skills of sewing for her family, knitting, crocheting, weaving, spinning, plant dyeing, felting, simple book making, stitching, drawing with natural pigments and free form basketry.

As one of the initial group that started the first Waldorf/Rudolf Steiner school in WA, she developed the craft curriculum and taught at the Perth Waldorf School for many years.

Since then she has taught children, adults and community workshops. Recent focus has turned to exhibiting, with a solo exhibition at Mundaring Arts Centre and in many group exhibitions.

Common Threads Woven through Community is a week-long community engagement project proudly brought to the Perth Hills directly following the World Anne Williams name joins the Common Threads TeamFashion Revolution week held in late April each year and happily leading into the local Toodyay Fibre Festival of 2019.
This exhibition includes topics of integrating sustainability, creativity, and traditional hand-crafted wisdom of the ages. These events are designed for you to leave feeling deeply inspired to become part of a continuing impulse of considerable change.
