Common Threads – Woven through Community

HANDS ON WORKSHOP

Join one of these hands-on, heart-felted workshops with Kim Gordon.

You will create your very own individual gorgeous scarf made from tissue silk fabric and fine merino wool.  The layering of fine merino wool and silk will emulate your own personal design, then after adding a few embellishments you will walk away with a stunning creative piece to keep you warm throughout the colder months.

The perfect way to decrease your wardrobe and reduce your footprint is to add a few elegant accessories such as your very own handcrafted scarf.  This workshop will impart to you the knowledge and information to create felt pieces again in the future.

This is an intimate workshop with a maximum of 3 participants, you will receive focused attention to learn the skills required to felt beautiful pieces of clothing and art.

Kim Gordon, who lives locally in the Perth Hills, first learned to felt about 10 years ago and fell in love with it. Ever since she was a young girl she loved the fibres of different fabrics which she reflects may have come from her mother and grandmother teaching her how to knit and crochet using many different wools and cotton.

Over the years Kim has developed a love for natural fabrics and has mostly felted as a

much-loved interest.  Kim has also participated in many workshops with well-known Australian and International felters giving her a variety of skills to share.

Her motto for felting is ‘From Fibre to Fabulous’… “To start with tiny and delicate fibres and watch them turn into a strong and durable piece of fabric or art work is amazing” says Kim.

Kim is facilitating three of these hands-on heart-felted workshops during the Common Threads Exhibition.
