Common Threads – Woven through Community

Join Phoebe for a wonderful workshop where you can warp and weft to weave some magic at The Sound Temple.

Learn and put into practice the ancient art of weaving whilst making a beautiful wall hanging to take home and boast pride of place in your favourite space. Phoebe will take you through the weaving process, loom design and weaving techniques on a wooden handloom which will be yours to take away, so you can create more of your own magic at home.

All wool, yarn, tools and weaving materials will be provided for you to immerse yourself in this creative project which will allow you to Weave and Wind, Soothe and Spin.

Phoebe Phillips was first introduced to weaving by her mother who led women’s creative groups making woven baskets.

Drawn to the meditative quality of this slow-paced creative practice Phoebe uses found and recycled fibres as the starting point for the design of her beautiful pieces of art.

Vintage textiles, modern art and the colours of the Australian outback inspire Phoebe’s work. She is also interested in weaving as a cultural practice, and how it has been used amongst different groups and communities around the world.

Phoebe will create a beautiful space where you can slow down, drink good tea and coffee, have a wonderful conversation with like-minded weavers and immerse yourself in making magic.
