A Day of Ayurveda – Practice and Theory

Winter is the perfect time to take a sneak peek at our Lifestyle and explore the aspects of Nourishment. Meta joins us to bring her wealth of knowledge to us through ‘A Day of Ayurveda’ with an inspiring day of yoga, breathing, meditation and some cooking.

Thousands of years before modern medicine provided scientific evidence for the mind-body connection, the sages of India developed Ayurveda, which continues to be one of the world’s most sophisticated and powerful mind-body health systems.

More than a mere system of treating illness, Ayurveda is a science of life (Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge). It offers a body of wisdom designed to help people stay vibrant and healthy while realising their full human potential.

Health is fostered through the informed interaction of the individual with their diet, mental process, lifestyle and environment. Ayurveda teaches us how to sustain what is inborn: health in the individual, in society and for the planet. It enhances our connection to nature, the five elements and the vastness of life.

With a variety of experiential practices, you will have a platform to learn why by doing.

During the day you will have the opportunity to:

  • Explore Lifestyle with yoga asanas, breathing, meditation, chanting and partial self-massage
  • Explore Nourishment where you will prepare vegetable khichuri for lunch
  • Explore and understand the Basic Concepts of Ayurveda
  • Explore Mental Processes followed by Question and Answer time

Meta Doherty is an IYTA (Australia) Yoga Teacher, Ayurveda Lifestyle Consultant and author of two books – Sattwa Café and Ayurvedic Forever Wellbeing, A Treasury of Holistic Recommendations. Over the past 20 years, Meta has lived and celebrated the exquisite nature of these traditional teachings, which are applicable to everyone.

The Building Blocks to Emotional Resilience

Designed for men, women and couples, these workshops are run by Joe Douglas, a qualified psychotherapist whose mission in life is to help others. Joe is a highly skilled facilitator and holds and maintains a safe place for people to get the most out of their experiences.

I believe that people are not broken, people do not catch dis-ease like ‘depression’ or ‘anxiety’, they feel the effects of these feelings and manage themselves the best they can at the time. People are amazingly resilient, noble and honourable and sometimes get overwhelmed and sometimes find their best efforts at “self-improvement” thwarted. So to bring about concerted change one might need some support to turn a new leaf, make a fresh start.
– Joe Douglas

These workshops are for people that are new to personal development and are also useful for people that are not so new to this type of work. Couples are warmly welcomed to join this transformative weekend.

Over the weekend you will learn how your emotions affect you and those around you. You will get the chance to work through some of your issues and learn how holding on to past resentments drains your energy.

What Is Emotional Resilience?
Emotional resilience refers to one’s ability to adapt to stressful situations or crises. More resilient people are able to “roll with the punches” and adapt to adversity without lasting difficulties; less resilient people have a harder time with stress and life changes, both major and minor. It’s been found that those who deal with minor stresses more easily can also manage major crises with greater ease, so resilience has its benefits for daily life as well as for the rare major catastrophe.

Mindfulness
You will gain practical tools for becoming more mindful in your life. What does ‘mindful’ mean? It means being more present and aware of your inner and outer world. Who benefits from that? You and all those who you consider nearest and dearest will most definitely benefit.
During the weekend, you will learn about mindfulness and becoming less stressed. You will get to understand how big emotions drive your behaviour in good and bad ways. You’ll see how your emotions have been shaped during your childhood.

Questions to consider

  • Would you like to be calmer when you respond to your partner, your parents or your children?
  • Do you sometimes feel sad over something that seems small?
  • Do you have fears that impact the people you love the most?
  • Are you ready to fall in love with your life?

Freedom
If you could have freedom from old limiting patterns and beliefs, freedom from addiction and addictive behaviours would you say “yes”?

If you would like to understand your life, discover what it is that you want to do with the rest of your life, get practical tools to help you create the life you desire and have a bit of fun whilst doing it then this two-day workshop is definitely for you.

Here’s what a couple of Joe’s participants had to say about their experience …
“Joe has a unique way of engaging with people that allows a safe space to form. Within this space is where the magic happens. Joe is well-equipped with an amazing insight into emotions. He has helped me dig right down to the core of my inner-world and where my emotions have been sourced from.
Joe is kind, intuitive, funny and full of life. And his workshop has been life changing for me. Amazing connections are made within the group with an incredible community feel. I can’t thank Joe enough for this incredible experience.”
and
“His words are still with me today. I am eternally grateful to have met Joe and attend his amazing, inspiring workshop. I fully recommend this, it could change your life, like it did mine.”

Joe prides himself on being a practical, down-to-earth kind of therapist who cuts through to the core of what needs to be done and helps people move through whatever they need to so that they can find more peace in their life.

He has delivered hundreds of workshops in all sorts of modalities, he leads meditation, sacred circles and corporate groups all over the world.

This event is held in the Perth Hills at the lovely grounds and studios of The Sound Temple.

Be Your Authentic Self with Meredith Forder

We invite you to join us in The Mandala Room for our regular Sunday Satsang events being held to bring our community members together who would like to explore various spiritual topics.

The topic Meredith will be exploring this month is Be Your Authentic Self .

When we are born, we come into the world with natural tendencies and inclinations. These tendencies make us who we are. However, as we grow we are influenced by the world around us and lose sight of who we are meant to be. Without remembering who we are, we go through life as if something is missing…. Our task, therefore, is to peel away the layers of influence and conformity to reveal our authentic Self within.

Meredith Forder will be facilitating at our monthly Sunday Satsang Events.

Meredith Forder is a Vedanta philosopher-practitioner and disciple of world-renowned philosopher Swami Parthasarathy. Meredith has spent 27 years studying and researching the ancient science of Vedanta and how it benefits modern-day health, happiness and wellbeing.
Six of those years were spent at the Vedanta Academy in India, under the guidance and leadership of Swami Parthasarathy. It was here the self-transformation took place.

On conclusion of the Satsang, you are invited to stay and enjoy the company of others for a warming soup supper and cuppa.

Date: Sunday, 11th August 2019
Start: 4:00pm start, gather from 3:30pm
Finish: 5.30pm

To Bring: Please wear easily slip off shoes for entry into our sacred spaces
