Common Threads Woven through Community

Common Threads Woven Through Community - Sew the Soul

Hands on Workshop

Sew the Soul – this is a fully immersive hands on workshop

A needle pulling thread is like a pollinator who touches ideas and brings them together in a freshly created form.

This hand stitching workshop offers possibilities for participants to stimulate their own creative practice and contribute to a group activity.

Anne Williams uses simple materials and her hands to create new forms.  She has a life-long love of making, using basic ‘domestic’ skills of sewing for her family, knitting, crocheting, weaving, spinning, plant dyeing, felting, simple book making, stitching, drawing with natural pigments and free form basketry.

As one of the initial group that started the first Waldorf/Rudolf Steiner school in WA, she developed the craft curriculum and taught at the Perth Waldorf School for many years.

Since then she has taught children, adults and community workshops.

Anne has turned her focus to exhibiting her works, with solo exhibitions and she also participates in many group exhibitions.

Her most recent workshops have been

  • Sensing Stitch, workshop, The Sound Temple, Sawyers Valley, WA
  • Exploring Stitch, workshop, Midland Junction Arts Centre, WA
  • Birds, Bats and Bees, children’s workshop, Midland Junction Arts Centre, WA
  • Perth Waldorf School teachers’ PD, artistic activities, Bibra Lake

We are blessed at The Sound Temple to have Anne as an advocate and presenter in the Perth Hills as part of our Common Threads Woven Through Community Exhibition since its inception in 2018.
