Common Threads – Woven through Community

HANDS ON WORKSHOP

Join Jane Milburn for this once in a lifetime opportunity to be involved in a three hour hands on workshop of Mindful Mending.

Jane is travelling directly from over East to us at The Sound Temple to bring her wealth of expertise on this topic to the heart of the Perth Hills Community.

Jane says “Clothing is as essential as food for our health and wellbeing because clothes do for us on the outside what food does inside – they nourish, warm, and engage body and soul. What we choose to wear impacts how we feel and how we present to the world.”

As conscious eaters are now aware of sourcing fresh whole food and returning to the kitchen – conscious dressers are engaging in the process of learning where and how their clothes are made. Our choices have profound influence – yet sometimes we are too busy to think much about them.”

This interactive workshop will be led by Jane Milburn based on a philosophy of living lightly on Earth through the everyday practice of mindful mending brings love.

Mended garments carry a story of care. They reflect a triumph of imperfection over pretention, while the act of mending itself brings transformation in both mender and mended.

Bring a few garments that need fixing and we share ideas for visible mending, darning, patching and embellishing over and around holes, tears and blemishes. Equipment provided, but if you have needle, thread and scissors please bring them along.

Stay for a lovely warm light supper afterwards.
Maximum: 15 people.

This workshop is followed on in the evening with another event “A Conversation About Clothes” please make a separate booking if you are wanting to attend both events.
