Dr. Noel Nannup – Aboriginal Elder, Storyteller, Cultural Guide, and Mentor

Dr. Noel Nannup, affectionately known as Uncle Noel, is a respected Aboriginal Elder, Storyteller, Cultural Guide, and Mentor.  He serves as a bridge between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people, facilitating a deeper connection to the land and fostering a sense of care for country.  His teachings reflect a profound understanding of Aboriginal traditions and a commitment to sharing this knowledge with others.

Uncle Noel has walked the lands of The Sound Temple for many years, often sharing stories and wisdom through yarning circles. Over ten years ago, he blessed the five-acre property in Sawyers Valley, gifting it its traditional Noongar name, Yunga Karak Boodja, meaning “Thank you or in appreciation of your interaction with the Red Tail Black Cockatoo Country.”  This sacred act marked the beginning of a deep trust, as Uncle Noel also buried healing crystals around the grounds, he also spoke to Dawn and John about totem animals for their boys.  In doing so, he gave permission for the land to be used for traditional sound healing, a practice that continues to this day.

Beyond his numerous accolades and academic achievements, Uncle Noel’s true gift lies in sharing his vast ancestral knowledge and profound connection with the natural world.  His sessions at The Sound Temple offer immersive experiences that blend Ancient Stories, Aboriginal Wisdom, and the healing power of Sound. Uncle Noel’s hope is to foster deeper connections with country, and he has been working closely with school principals and young people to evoke a true heart connection to the Ancestry of this Land.

We are very honoured to have Uncle Noel as a Mentor to our team here at The Sound Temple and his presence over the past decade is such a treasure.  Our souls continue to be nourished by his wisdom and our Spirits find their way to Grace with his gentle guidance that holds such strength for us all.  His contributions within our industry regarding Quantum Physics and his Ancient Knowledge connecting Sound to Frequency and Nature have been ground-breaking.
